The process for creating any type of assessment is similar - whether it is a quiz, survey, or self-test.Because of the myriad of options available for a quiz and since it is gradeable with submissions, the focus of the following instructions is on the Quiz.
Role(s) Needed: The instructions for creating assessments apply to Course- and Section-level Designers.
Step 1: From the Build tab, click the Assessments tool.
Step 2: Click the Create Assessment button.
Step 3: On the Create Assessment screen:
Enter a Title and optional Description.
NOTE: The assessment is NOT available to students until you have added questions, and then only after you choose to make it available.
Optionally enter a different name for the Grade Book column to be associated with this assessment; otherwise the Title will also be used as the Grade Book column. TIP: The shorter the Grade Book column name, the better.
The Quiz type of assessment should already be selected.
Click the Save and Add Questions button.
Step 4: On the Assessment screen:
Click the Create Questions button and select a question type.
NOTES:
All question types, with the exception of the Paragraph type, are eligible to be automatically scored.
The Add to Assessment button allows you to add existing questions from the Question Database to this assessment. The Question Set option allows for setting up a randomized or scrambled test. For detailed information about the Question Database, refer to the Question Database folder in this knowledge base.
Fill out the form specific to the question type.For detailed information about each question type, refer to the Question Types folder in this knowledge base.
Click Save once you are finished creating the question.
For the assessment, you should see the question Title, Points, and Type of the question you just entered. For example:
TIPS:
The default point value assigned to a question is 10 points.To change the point value, enter the number and click Update Total.
You can preview the quiz at any time while you are building it. Click the down arrow icon next to the assessment name and select Preview. In Preview mode, you will not be able to submit the quiz for grading in order to test that function.You would need to do that via Student View.
To work with availability, delivery, time allowed, and other options, click the down arrow icon next to the assessment name and select Edit Properties.
