Chat and Whiteboard: How do I allow participants to send private messages, or prevent them from "talking" privately, in my chat room?

Chat and Whiteboard: Edit Properties

Role(s) Needed: These instructions apply to Section-level Instructors and Designers.

Step 1: From the Build tab, click the Chat tool.

Step 2: Click the down arrow  icon next to the room name and select Edit Properties.

Step 3: In the Room Properties, for example:

To allow or prevent users to send private Chat messages, select or de-select Allow private Chat messages.

TIP: This might be a beneficial option if there are multiple people in the room and you wish to discuss a private matter with someone aside from the group.  Private messages appear in a pop-up window and are never logged.

Step 4: Click Save to apply the changes.
