Chat: How do I view the history or log of a chat session I missed?

ANSWER:

Chat and Whiteboard: View Log

If you missed the scheduled Chat session, or if you "arrived" late (you cannot see any dialogue that took place before you joined), as long as logging is turned on, you can view the history of the conversation in a log file. NOTE: Both instructors and students can retrieve the log file.

To access a room's log file:

Step 1: On the Course Menu, expand Course Tools.

Step 2: Select Chat or Whiteboard (if just a Whiteboard room).

Step 3: Click the down arrow icon next to the chat/whiteboard room you were instructed to go to.

Step 4: Select View Log.

There is one log file per room, and the messages are cumulative if the room is used across multiple dates and if the instructor has not cleared the log at any point.
