Course Content: How do I delete a link to an item in my course?
ANSWER:
Content: Remove Link
Role(s) Needed: These instructions apply to Section-level Designers.
Step 1: Click the Build tab.
TIP: An item can be linked in multiple locations within the same course. Should you want to remove ALL references to the item, to quickly determine where each reference to the item exists, from the Home page, click Page Options, then Go to Power View:
Click the down arrow icon next to the link's name and select View Links to this Item.
Step 2: Go to the folder or learning module containing the link.
Step 3: Click the down arrow icon next to the link's name and select Remove.
Step 4: Click OK on the confirmation message.
The page refreshes with that link no longer available in that location. If this item is linked elsewhere in the course, repeat the above steps to remove its links in all other locations.
NOTE: The item still exists; for files, go to File Manager to delete the file. For items like assessments, assignments, discussion topics, etc., click the link to the tool on the Course Tools menu. After finding the item, click the down arrow
icon next to the item's name and select Delete. Based on the confirmation message, decide whether to proceed with the deletion.
WARNING: Any associations with the item will be deleted and are not recoverable. For example, messages in a discussion topic are removed when the topic is deleted. Quiz submissions are removed when the quiz is deleted. All links to a file within folders and learning modules are removed when the file is deleted.
