Discussions: Sort

While you cannot do a Search within a discussion topic, you can sort messages by Author (as well as Subject) in ascending  (A to Z, or 1 to 9)  or descending  (Z to A, or 9 to 1)  order. Just click on the Author label. Now messages are grouped by author's name. To reverse the sort order, click the column title again. The sort order is reversed.

NOTE: Items do NOT remain in the specified sort order when you navigate away from the topic.  When you come back, the display will always will be Threaded view.

For more advanced searches, use the Search tool if it has been added to the course.  If so, it is typically found on the Course Menu. The Search tool allows you to conduct a more specific search for data within a course. For example, if you remember sending a discussion message regarding Assignment Five, but you can't recall in which discussion topic you posted the message, you can do a keyword search to retrieve the message.
