Goals: How do I create a goal?
ANSWER: CREATE GOAL
The Goals tool allows you to record the goals for a course, and to create categories to organize them. You can also associate files and course content with goals. You can associate the following content with any goal:
- assessments
- assignments
- chat rooms
- discussion topics
- learning modules
- media library collections
- a syllabus
- web links
Associating content allows you to communicate to Students which items in the course will support progress towards the achievement of each goal. For example, if a goal is for Students to become familiar with Monet's paintings, you can create a link from this goal to a Media Library collection containing image files of the paintings.
Role(s) Needed: The instructions for creating goals apply to Course- and Section-level Designers.
Step 1: From the Build tab, click the Goals tool.
Step 2: Click the Create Goal button.
Step 3: On the Create Goal screen:

- For Category, decide if you want to organize the goal into a category. Select an existing category, or create a new one.
Step 4: Click Save to create the goal.
