Grade Book: How do I make columns visible to students so they can see their grade or invisible to them if I don't want them to see their grade yet?

ANSWER:

Grade Book: Released to Students

Grade Book allows you to determine which columns Students see in their My Grades channel on the page and in their My Grades tool. When a grade column is released to Students, each Student will see only their value, and not all Students' values.

NOTES:

  • Students can only see grade-related columns. If you release columns that are not grade-related, Students will not see them.

  • You cannot release SCORM grade columns to Students.

Role(s) Needed: These instructions apply to Instructors and Teaching Assistants (if TAs are permitted to use the Grade Book).

Step 1: In the Grade Book, click the Grade Book Options button, then Column Settings.

Step 2: Locate the column and, in its Released to Student row, click No.

The value is updated to Yes, indicating it is released to Students.

Likewise, to make a column invisible to students, click Yes and the value is updated to No.

To release or un-release multiple columns at once, check the box above each column label and click the Release or Do Not Release button. To release or un-release all columns at once, check the box next to Select All/None. All columns are selected. Click the Release or Do Not Release button.
