Grade Book: How do I search for a member enrolled in my course?

Grade Book: Find Members
As some courses can potentially grow to thousands of members, you can use the following features to locate and display only certain members in the Grade Book tabs. From any of the Grade Book tabs, you can determine the list of members that displays:
Role(s) Needed: These instructions apply to Instructors and Teaching Assistants (if TAs are permitted use the Grade Book).
To display only those members of certain roles:
- Click Grade Book Options then Find Members.

Under Column, select the Roles check box.

Under Condition, for the Roles row, select contain.

Under Value, for the Roles row, select the roles you want to view. TIP: You can select multiple roles:

To select consecutive roles in the list, hold the Shift key while selecting the roles.

To select non-consecutive roles in the list, hold the Ctrl key (Windows users) or the Command key (Mac users) while selecting the roles.

To select consecutive roles in the list, hold the Shift key while selecting the roles.
- Click Run Query. In the tab from which you initiated the query, only members enrolled in the selected roles are displayed.
- To return to displaying all members, click Grade Book Options and then Show All Members.
If you have added members to groups, you can view only those members in a group:
- Click Grade Book Options then Find Members.

If you are working in a cross-listed course, you can display members according to the course they were originally enrolled in:

You can perform a more advanced query to display only those members that match entered criteria:
- Click Grade Book Options then Find Members.

Under Column, from the drop-down list, select the data column on which you want to search.

Under Condition, from the second drop-down list, select a comparison function.

Under Value, in the text box, enter a text value that will be compared to members' values for the selected data column. NOTE: The value is case-sensitive. You can also use wild card characters, such as, * or ?.

To add additional criteria, click Add Criteria and repeat the immediate steps above in the next row of fields that appear. NOTE: You can enter role and group criteria as already described to further limit the number of displayed members.

Click Run Query. In the tab from which you initiated the query, only those members matching the criteria are displayed.
- To return to displaying all members, click Grade Book Options and then Show All Members.
