Page Options: How do I add a header or footer to my Course Home page?
Page Options: Customize Page Display
You can add or edit headers and footers on Course Content Home or any content folders in the Course Content tool.
To add headers and footers, you can use HTML or plain text. If you are using HTML, you can hand code the HTML or use the HTML Creator. HTML Creator offers an easy, graphical interface for applying formatting, such as boldface, and for inserting images and links. NOTE: Depending on administrator settings, the HTML Creator may not be available.
Step 1: Click on the Build tab.
Step 2: On the Course Content Home page, or after navigating to the desired folder, select the Page Options button, then Edit Header or Edit Footer
Step 3: Add or edit the text for the header or footer
To add or edit the text in Plain Text format, enter the text. The header or footer will appear exactly as you have typed it.
To add or edit the text in HTML format, you can use the HTML Creator or hand code the HTML:
To use the HTML Creator, click the Enable HTML Creator button. If this is the first time you have turned on the HTML Creator, it may a few seconds to load because the system needs to verify that you have the Java plugin installed on your computer
Add or edit the text in the HTML Creator editing area. For details on the editing options, see the HTML Creator folder in this knowledge base.
If the HTML Creator doesn't load (you may see a red X), you need to install Java. Reference the articles on Java in this knowledge base for further details.
- To hand code the HTML, select Use HTML and enter the HTML code.
- To use the HTML Creator, click the Enable HTML Creator button. If this is the first time you have turned on the HTML Creator, it may a few seconds to load because the system needs to verify that you have the Java plugin installed on your computer
Step 4: To use the header or footer as the default for all content folders in the Course Content tool, check Use this as the default header (or footer) for the entire course. This will not overwrite existing headers (or footers).
If you have existing headers or footers, they are kept. Checking this option only applies this header or footer to later course content folders that get added.
Step 6: Click .
The course is refreshed, and the header or footer is applied or updated.
