Page Options: How do I change the background color of my Course Home page?

ANSWER:

Page Options: Customize Page Display

NOTE: Depending on administrator settings, this feature may not be available.

By default, a color set is applied to the entire course so that a consistent color scheme is used throughout the course. However, you can change the background color of the Course Content Home screen or any content folder in the Course Content tool. This allows you to override the background color defined in the course color set. You also have the option of reverting to the original background color at any time.

Tip: Be sure that your text font color and background colors are high contrasting colors, otherwise, it will be difficult to read the text in your course. For example, it will be difficult to read dark green text on a dark blue background.

Role(s) Needed: These instructions apply to and Section-level Designers.

Step 1: Click on the Build tab.

Step 2: On the Course Content Home page, or after navigating to the desired folder, select the Page Options button, then Customize Page Display

Step 3: Under Background Color, click Select Color.

Step 4: In the color palette:

  • Do one of the following:
    • Click a color. The color appears in the preview box.

    • In the Color value text box, enter the RGB color value and click Preview. The color appears in the preview box.

  • Click Select. The new color appears in the box under Background Color.

Step 5: Click Apply.

The course is refreshed, and the background color is added. NOTE: The background color is only applied on the content folder which you chose to customize.  Repeat this process to add a background color to other course content folders.

TIP: You can always return to the default background color by selecting the Page Options button, then Customize Page Display again. Click the Revert to Default button and then Apply.
