Release Criteria: Date Criteria
If you want to release an item to Students starting from a specific date and time and/or until a specific date and time, you can add date criteria to the item. Example: If you want a Discussion topic to be released to Students for one week only, you can add date criteria to the topic and it will be released (be visible) to Students for only the week that you specify.
IMPORTANT: If you add date criteria to an item, ensure the item is set to show. If the item is hidden, when the release criteria is satisfied, the item will not be visible. For more information, see Showing or Hiding Items Using the Selective Release Tool. When adding date criteria to an assignment, ensure that the date criteria does not conflict with the due and cutoff dates of the assignment.
Step 1: From the Build or Teach tab,

Locate the item to which you want to add date criteria. TIP: To display the items in a folder or learning module, next to the name of the folder or learning module, click the Expand icon. The items in the content folder or learning module display.

Step 3: In the row of the item, under Release Criteria, click Set Release Criteria.
Step 4: Click Add Date Criteria.
Step 5: Under Available Starting, select the date and time on which you want the item to be released, by doing one of the following:

To release the item immediately, select Immediately.

To select a starting date and time:

Select the radio button next to the date and time selection area.

Do one of the following:

Click the Date Selection Calendar icon and, from the pop-up window that appears, select the starting date.

From the date drop-down lists, select the starting date.

Click the Date Selection Calendar icon and, from the pop-up window that appears, select the starting date.
- From the time drop-down lists, select the starting time.

Select the radio button next to the date and time selection area.
Step 6: Under Available Until, select the date and time until which the item will be released, by doing one of the following:

To release the item for an unlimited period, select Unlimited.

To set an ending date and time:

Select the radio button next to the date and time selection area.

Do one of the following:

Click the Date Selection Calendar icon and, from the pop-up window that appears, select the ending date.

From the date drop-down lists, select the ending date.

Click the Date Selection Calendar icon and, from the pop-up window that appears, select the ending date.
- From the time drop-down lists, select the ending time.

Select the radio button next to the date and time selection area.
Step 7: Click Save to add the date criterion.
When you are finished adding release criteria to the item, click Save on the Set Release Criteria for screen. The item will be released when the release criteria are satisfied. To indicate that release criteria have been set for the item, in folders and the tool in which the item was created, the word Conditional appears in parentheses next to the item.
